ABSTRACT

Developed for a steel plant company, this Infrastructure Management System (IMS) is a web application implemented using ASP.NET with C#. It mainly aims at management and maintenance of infrastructure details in the company, such as cartridge details, mock details, server details, software details and document details.
IMS reduces the physical work of maintaining server information through log books. It improves efficiency in the department, makes use of online service, creates an easy platform to make data available to senior officials for quick decision making, and helps in better administration overall.
You can get the detailed project report, documentation and source code files of Infrastructure Management System Project from the download links provided here.

ABOUT INFRASTRUCTURE MANAGEMENT SYSTEM:

Visakhapatnam Steel Plant has more than 50 servers that handle various operations in the steel plant. These servers require periodic maintenance and management, and the proposed IMS works simultaneously with server management system, an intranet web application. Read more about this in the project report.
Currently, the management of server information is done via log books; this requires a lot of physical work, and it is time taking. The proposed application is for infrastructure management group of steel plant; it will manage the entire infrastructure in the department and make accessing particular information easier than via log books.

The key features of Infrastructure Management System are

  • It is a computerized web application where only authenticated users can log in.
  • Accessing and retrieving a particular information or data is lot more easy with this application.
  • It avoids duplication of work and redundancy in data.
  • Data is more secured.
  • Paper work and physical manpower is drastically reduced.

MODULES USED IN IMS:

1. Server Management: To handles various operations and host numerous applications, Visakhapatnam Steel Plant maintains several servers. This module manages server details including server name, server make, data of purchase etc.
2. Server Maintenance: This modules maintains servers on a periodic basic and updates details such as problems faced, parts replaced etc.
3. Cartridge Management: Cartridges are used for backup of information and data. This module handles cartridge details such as cartridge name, state, backup number, and more.
4. Mock Restoration: Whenever required, the backed up data can be restored into the system. And, this modules checks the correctness of the data written on the cartridge.
5. Software Management: It contains the software type and hardware details and manages them.
6. Document Management: It manages various documents received along with server.
